May 18 machan census booking to be online

Nagpur: The 24-hour-long machan census, rechristened as ‘Nisarga Anubhav’, will be held in national parks and sanctuaries within the state on May 18, Buddha Pournima day.
Tiger reserve officials are figuring out machans, waterholes and modalities are being worked out to allow individuals. Retired divisional wooded area officer and adviser GK Vashisht stated an advisory to conduct the exercise will be issued through PCCF (natural world) to all park managers in an afternoon or two.

Pench leader conservator of forests (CCF) & field director Ravikiran Govekar stated, “We are reviewing collection of machans and waterholes. Last 12 months, barring East Pench (Sillari) and Khurspaar areas, the exercise was held in all parks under Pench.”

Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) field director NR Praveen stated, “We mentioned about it and feature decided to conduct the exercise in buffer areas like Adegaon, Madnapur, Navegaon, Junona under TATR.”

According to natural world wing officials, the exercise is predicted to be carried out over 750 machans in parks under Melghat, Bor, Pench, and Navegaon-Nagzira tiger reserves.

Last 12 months in Melghat, all 480 machans, including those in Katepurna and Dnyanganga sanctuaries, had been booked on-line. The park charged Rs1,500 in step with particular person.
