Guj ATS seizes 5kg methamphetamine in Delhi

AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Monday seized 5kg of methamphetamine, a psychotropic drug which is also known as 'ice' or 'crystal meth', value Rs 24 crore, from a residence in Paharganj in Delhi. The area belongs to Mohammed Abdul Salaam Kunni, who was not too long ago nabbed in reference to the Rs 500 crore heroin seizure off the Porbandar coast last month.

Kunni, a resident of Kasargod in Kerala was not too long ago arrested along with Niyamat Khan Ahmedzai, an Afghanistan resident, in the 100kg heroin seizure case through Gujarat ATS.

Security agencies are involved for the reason that consignment was not too long ago smuggled from Pakistan to India by the use of the Kutch coast.

"This could be the tip of an iceberg. It is a matter of concern for us that while the Gujarat sea coast was on a high alert after the Pulwama terror attack, the smugglers managed to bring the consignment to Kutch by sea," mentioned Himanshu Shukla, DIG (operations), Gujarat ATS.

ATS officers mentioned that Kunni had confessed to receiving 10kg of 'ice' from one Razi in Kutch. He mentioned part the consignment were smuggled to Saudi Arabia and European nations the usage of couriers.

"We have recovered bags and suitcases in which the consignment was carried to various places. We have written to central agencies manning various airports in the country to step their vigil to catch these elements who use Gujarat and India as transit point for smuggling narcotic drugs to other countries," mentioned a Gujarat ATS reliable.

On March 27, the Gujarat ATS in a joint operation with the Indian Coast Guard and the marine job power had arrested 9 Iran nationals and seized 100kg of heroin.
