Udupi: RTO caught taking bribe from owner of car gutted in air show

UDUPI: Udupi Regional Transport Officer (RTO) RM Vernekar, 56, used to be arrested through the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly receiving bribe from a automotive owner on Saturday.


Officials additionally ar rested Munaf, 35, security guard-cum-contractor of the administrative center. Both had been stuck receiving bribe from Vignesh for clearing his automotive's road tax paperwork. Vignesh works with an IT corporate and had purchased a second-hand automotive a month ago, which used to be gutted in a hearth incident during Aero India in Bengaluru just lately. As he used the car just for a month, he used to be eligible to get the street tax back. Hence he had carried out for paperwork from the shipping administrative center.


Vignesh had already received his automotive in surance amount of Rs three lakh and had carried out for paperwork to publish it for refund. He used to be supposed to get Rs 65,000 as road tax. Vernekar and Munaf demanded 10% of the amount received. Vignesh refused to pay the bribe and taken the matter to the awareness of ACB on March 15. On Saturday morning, a case used to be registered.
