MYSURU: City police commissioner K T Balakrishna has stated that there are 987 booths throughout the city limits for the Lok Sabha polls next month. "We have identified critical, non-critical and vulnerable booths. We are doing confidence-building measures with election staff in such areas. Nearly 1,543 police personnel will be deployed along with CAR, mounted police, KSRP and CAP as per the requirement," he stated.

The commissioner stated there are 1,010 history-sheeters, of whom 768 are lively and 68 are in judicial custody. "There are 95 intimidators against whom we are filing security cases under CrPC. "We have 1,266 people who have weapon licences and whom we have now directed to deposit their weapons in respective police stations. There are exemptions for financial institution and safety guards," he stated. There will probably be an assistant commissioner of police (ACP) for each and every three police stations, he stated.

Mysuru SP Amit Singh stated they'd 1,953 booths in Mysuru rural district out of which 20% are severe. "We have 129 sector cellular squad, 21 supervising cellular squads and eight SDPO cellular squads. In the district, there are 1,394 gun licences and for the previous 10 days, the homeowners are depositing the weapons. Still, 361 weapons are yet to be deposited. We have served safety bonds on 400 people and registered a case. I've also written a letter to EC proposing to extern 25 people. This figure might increase," he stated.

DC Abhiram G Sankar stated that as according to the EC's directives, the details of touchy and hyper-sensitive booths can't be published. "We have now severe, non-critical booths and inclined booths as an alternative of touchy and hyper-sensitive ones. The choice of such booths can alternate which will probably be mentioned with observers," he stated.
