Vocalist Banerjee impresses audience with classic show

NAGPUR It was a night to remember as noted vocalist from Kolkata Ivy Banerjee presented classical and semi-classical melodies at a programme arranged beneath the joint auspices of Chitnavis Centre and Mehfil in reminiscence of Malini Sapre and Shailaja Tole at Tamarind Hall on Sunday.

The classical night time started with Ivy presenting raag Bihag that stored the target audience engaged all through. Ivy then invoked Goddess Saraswati with Saraswati puja in Rabindra sangeet in conjunction with her sister Moitreyee Banerjee.

The ever enthusiastic gathering applauded the classical singer for her soulful rendition.

Ivy then presented a thumri ‘Airi Shyam nahi aaye’ in raag Khamaj. She also sung ‘Saiya nikas gaye’.

She was accompanied by Biswajit Deb on tabla and Pradip Palit on harmonium. Her sister Moitreyee rendered voice toughen.

Karade Brahman Sangh and Bengali Education Society have been the co-organizers.
