Bengal: IPS officer Gaurav Dutt passes away

KOLKATA: Gaurav Dutt, a retired IPS officer, was declared useless at AMRI Hospital in Salt Lake after he was introduced in with a slit wrist around 6.30pm on Tuesday night.

The 1986 batch officer was unconscious when he was wheeled into the medical institution. He was rushed to the emergency where docs tried to prevent the blood drift and revive him. “He was declared useless at 8.30pm. There was critical blood loss,” stated a clinical legitimate. A post-mortem shall be carried out on Wednesday.

Dutt, a Salt Lake FD Block resident, was the SP of West Midnapore throughout the Keshpur violence within the past due 1990s. At the start of his career, he had served in several districts as deputy SP and SP. He went onto turn out to be a DIG.

Dutt, who was born in 1958, had carried out his schooling from Modern School, Delhi, and postgraduation from Hindu College, Delhi University. Later, he went on to finish his LLB and PhD, apart from a movie critics route. His father, Gopal Dutt, a 1939 batch IPS officer, was conferred with Padma Shri in 1975.
