Youngsters accused of thefts, robbery nabbed

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru North sub-division of Anti-Rowdy Squad has arrested participants of the group that allegedly performed thefts within the Mangaluru South region, town police mentioned on Sunday.

Police have known the accused as Abdul Ameer, 20, a resident of Katipalla, Abdul Bilal, 19, from Mulki and Tanveer, 24, a resident of Krishnapur. The trio have admitted to having performed thefts in Panambur and Surathkal police station limits.

On January 10, 56-year-old Shamshuddin Ashamfir Mujavar, a truck driving force hailing from Vijayapura, was once taking a snooze in his car close to the Nandaneshwar temple in Panambur. The trio, who arrived at the spot, demanded cash and his cell phone, after threatening him with a knife. When Shamshuddin refused to oblige, they slashed him at the forehead with the knife, causing a wound, and snatched away his telephone.

Based on a police criticism, the police launched a seek and detained the accused inside a couple of days. While being interrogated, the trio revealed that they had stolen batteries from cars close to Surathkal previously.

A cell phone, two scooters, a items autorickshaw and car battery have been recovered from them. The total price of the seized items is estimated at Rs 2.five lakh.
