12 arrested for liquor trafficking

VADODARA: The detection of crime branch (DCB) on Sunday busted a liquor trafficking racket that was being carried out the usage of a unique modus operandi.
Notorious bootlegger Vijay Rana, who was some of the 12 arrested, used get the liquor inventory from Haryana in automobiles that were loaded on a trailer. This was executed to avoid suspicion that the automobiles were wearing liquor and show them as being transported as automobiles for showroom.

Police mentioned that it has intensified patrolling and car checking over previous couple of months and therefore the bootleggers are resorting to new tips for ferrying liquor illegally in the city. “We had gained information following which we raided an open plot near a residential colony in Manjalpur and nabbed notorious bootlegger Vijay Rana. We found that Rana was distributing liquor to inventory to other individuals,” mentioned Jaydeepsinh Jadeja, DCP (crime).

The police arrested the entire individuals who had come to the spot for amassing liquor from Rana. Also, liquor value Rs three lakh was seized except the mobile phones and automobiles of the accused. Rana instructed the police that he had introduced the liquor from a Haryana-based bootlegger Dhiraj Kumar Sharma. Sharma and Rana planned to ferry in the liquor in Gujarat by employing a different trick.

“The liquor inventory was packed in 3 other automobiles that were then loaded in a big trailer. The idea was to make it appear that the trailer is transporting the automobiles from one position to every other. When we wondered Rana and the opposite accused, they instructed us about this new modus operandi,” Jadeja instructed TOI. The liquor inventory ferried in the 3 automobiles was offloaded at Tarsali by-pass and two of the automobiles were saved there.

The Haryana-based bootlegger who had supplied the inventory value Rs thee lakh is yet to be nabbed.

Cars loaded with liquor packing containers were also seized. Sharma and his two accomplices from Haryana were also arrested. Sharma instructed police that he had supplied two automobiles loaded with liquor to Rana and one automobile to army man Lacchiram Kushwaha. Kushwaha took the car and offloaded some liquor packing containers, but he was caught when he was on his to return the car that still had four liquor packing containers inside.
