Tree-felling permited, residents step in, stop it

NOIDA: Residents of Sector 137 stopped staff of the Noida Authority from slicing down two neem and a sheesham tree which might be obstructing site visitors. However, four neem trees had already been felled by the point the residents raised the objection.

The staff had permission from the wooded area division to chop seven trees in general. The Authority mentioned that they had decided to remove the trees after repeated complaints that they stood in the course of the road and had led to various accidents.

The residents mentioned that slicing the trees used to be not the solution. “They can publish barricades or set up lights. We registered a complaint and stored some of the trees,” mentioned Nidhi Bhatnagar, a resident of Paramount Floraville. “Permission for slicing full grown trees must be given with caution,” mentioned Vikrant Tongad, a city-based environmentalist.

In response to the complaints via the residents, district wooded area officer PK Srivastav mentioned: “We won a request from the Noida Authority for seven trees to be lower as they had been obstructing site visitors. This used to be a sound reason why, so we granted them the permission.”
