Students petition statue of late CM Jayalalithaa, held

Coimbatore: Police on Friday arrested two college scholars, contributors of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the students wing of BJP, when they staged a symbolic protest via submitting a petition to the statue of overdue leader minister J Jayalalithaa on Avinashi Road.

ABVB had introduced the protest to sentence the state govt for allegedly no longer addressing their calls for. Ten ABVP contributors, led via its district co-ordinator P Aravindh, positioned the petition on the statue on Friday afternoon and raised slogans.

“We were elevating the problems faced via the student neighborhood and preventing for the rights of the students. But the state govt was once no longer bothered. So, we petitioned the overdue CM,” Aravindh informed journalists.

“The state govt has failed to mend the cost construction for academic institutions. Fee for some topics is different based on the schools. College scholars are not supplied scholarships. In many places, they don't seem to be given free bus passes. More than 30 scholars dedicated suicide within the state within the closing six months. The hostel for SC/ST scholars has turn into the den of anti-social components,” he mentioned.

Tension prevailed within the space after AIADMK functionaries led via KP Raju gathered on the place and argued with the ABVB contributors. When Race Course police reached the spot, six ABVP scholars fled from the scene. AIADMK men apprehended two scholars and handed them over to the police workforce. Police interrogated the students on the Race Course station.
