Outfits stage protests on Babri Masjid demolition anniversary

Coimbatore: Three Muslim outfits staged protests in front of the south taluk places of work at Athupalam and Peelamedu on Thursday, on the instance of the 26th anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition.

As many as 750 other folks, including 200 girls from Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK), staged a protest in front of the south taluk administrative center. The protesters demanded strict punishment for the people, who demolished the mosque.


Social Democratic birthday party of India (SDPI) staged protest at Athupalam. The protesters demanded the Supreme Court to pronounce the judgement over the demolition.


Members of Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK) attempted to besiege the town airport. However they were intercepted via the police at Peelamedu. Police arrested probably the most protesters.


Meanwhile, as many as 127 individuals of Hindu Bharat Sena, including 16 girls, attempted to block a train at the Coimbatore Railway Junction, condemning the union government for not taking steps to build a temple at Ram Janmabhoomi. Police arrested 127 protesters. They were let off later. As many as 92 individuals from Bharat Sena were also arrested for attempting to besiege the railway junction.
