Jalaun tense after recovery of cattle carcasses

KANPUR (UP): Tension prevailed in Uttar Pradesh's Jalaun district on Saturday after carcasses of cattle that died in a close-by cow shelter have been recovered, police said Saturday. Jalaun Superintendent of Police Arvind Chaturvedi said the cattle within the shelter, that houses 500 cows, have been both affected by different diseases or injuries sustained all the way through street injuries.

He ruled out the incident as that of cow slaughter.

A complete of 7 cow and calf carcasses have been discovered within the space on Friday evening that have been buried soon after, Chaturvedi said, including the carcasses appear to be about 15 days outdated.

The cattle died within the shelter run via Rajendra Gaudas, an area villager, the SP said.

The SP said that Gaudas has been advised to make sure correct disposal of dead cows and calves in long run or else stern action might be taken towards him.

Security has been beefed up in and across the village to keep vigil and thrust back any incident of violence, the SP added.
