IISc, 2 men named in FIR over cylinder explosion

BENGALURU: City police have named Indian Institute of Science (IISc) as an accused in an FIR registered on Thursday over a cylinder explosion within the institute's laboratory that killed a researcher and injured three others on Wednesday.
Police have registered a case of 'causing loss of life by means of negligence' beneath IPC section (304A) and 'causing grievous harm by means of act endangering existence of private protection of others', according to a criticism filed by means of MR Chandrashekhar, leader safety officer for IISc.

According to the FIR, Prof G Jagadeesh and KPJ Reddy, who personal Super-Wave Technology Ltd (SWTPL) at the IISc premises, were named the primary two accused, whilst the IISc is the third accused.

Prof Jagadeesh is a senior scientist on the Laboratory for Hypersonic and Shock Wave Research (LHSR) of IISc's aerospace engineering department the place the incident befell round 2.20pm on Wednesday.

"Preliminary probe suggested no negligence. We are waiting for the forensic report and charges will be dropped against the suspects if it's found that the blast was an accident," a police officer said.

Manoj Kumar, 32, of Mysuru died straight away within the explosion; his colleagues - Athulya Uday Kumar, Naresh Kumar and Kartik Shenoy - sustained serious injuries.
