Fine for vehicles with registration older than 15 years

KANPUR: to Improve air quality index of the town following increase in collection of vehicles on roads, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) will now tremendous vehicles whose registration is older than 15 years, and the homeowners have now not implemented for re-registration.
RTO (Kanpur) has compiled the main points of over 1.79 lakh two-wheelers and four-wheelers working with out registration within the town. The main points of the vehicles could be sent to the visitors police department for motion, said RTO (administration) Sanjay Singh.

"Notices have been served to nearly 200 vehicle owners. Around 10,000 vehicle owners have been identified in the first phase, while more than 50 owners had got their vehicles re-registered at the RTO," said the RTO. He said a period of time of two months has been fastened for vehicle homeowners to get their vehicles re-registered on the RTO.


"All vehicle owners falling in this category are hereby informed through this public notice that they should not ply such vehicles in the city, failing which the vehicles will be impounded with the help of the traffic police department," he said additional.


"If a person gets a vehicle re-registered after the due date, a late fee of Rs 500 per month for four-wheeler and Rs 300 for two-wheeler, after the expiry of the due date, will be charged by the RTO," he added.


The town's air quality is becoming critical with each and every passing day, said Regional Pollution Control Board government. "It is a positive move by the RTO to improve the air quality index of the city, which has been earning infamy since the past few days," said Regional Pollution Control Board officer Kuldeep Mishra.
