CBSE to discuss with states about removing marks disparity

KOLKATA: The Centre has urged the CBSE to discuss about how to remove the disparity between marks awarded to examinees through it and that through more than a few state forums, Union minister Satya Pal Singh mentioned right here on Thursday.

Citing an instance, Singh mentioned when scholars of the CBSE and more than a few state forums search admission in the under-graduate level of a college furnish their marksheets, it is found that their marks vary from 98 in step with cent to 85 in step with cent.

The university then has to make a comparison between papers of different forums and strike a ratio to reach at an admission method, he mentioned.

"We have already sent an instruction to the CBSE to discuss with other state boards on the issue," the union minister of state for human resources construction mentioned.

The CBSE is now in the technique of discussing the issue, he mentioned while interacting with the media on the sidelines of a Merchants' Chamber of Commerce and Industry programme on schooling.

Singh, however, maintained awarding marks remained in the domain of college schooling department of the respective state forums.

On the Centre's transfer to introduce "no homework policy" for sophistication 1 and 2 scholars, Singh mentioned "The parents also want the same."

Providing quality schooling to youngsters remained the concern of the federal government, the minister mentioned.

He mentioned there shall be a mandatory 4week internship with business in yearly of the entire semester-based programme in engineering institutes, to impart hands-on coaching to scholars.

As a part of the Centre's resolution to remove social- regional imbalances, it'll fund putting in place of a central institute in states, he mentioned adding that precedence would be given to states with no such facility.

The state involved will provide land and the Centre will provide the budget.

"As far as I know, I don't recall any proposal from the government of West Bengal," he mentioned to a question.

Calling for restructuring of syllabus for schooling through 2035, the minister mentioned in Harvard/MIT, curricula are made maintaining in mind expected developments in the next 20 years.

He mentioned there's no dearth of talent in India, simplest alternatives must be created.
