After days of search operation, elephant Ashoka traced deep inside forest

MYSURU: The elephant Ashoka, which went lacking on November 30, has been traced through the foresters on Wednesday evening.
The jumbo was found deep within the jungle in Kaimara woodland beat vary of Nagarahole Tiger Reserve. Ashoka has now been housed in Balle elephant camp.

According to woodland officers, the Mathigodu camp elephant was set free within the woodland for grazing on November 30, but did not go back to the camp. After looking forward to a day, a workforce of officers at the side of mahouts and kavadis launched a seek operation to track the lacking tusker deep within the jungle in line with the marks created through chains that have been tied to the elephant’s legs.

As they may now not hint the elephant and suspected that it will have travelled moderately a distance into the woodland in search of fodder, the foresters summoned Dasara elephants Abhimanyu and Krishna to track the lacking jumbo.

After looking for just about six days, the foresters after all claimed that they managed to track the elephant on Wednesday night.

“The elephant was traced deep within the Kaimara woodland beat under the jurisdiction of DB Kuppe Forest Range. We have introduced the elephant back to the camp,” an officer mentioned.

Doubts raised

While foresters claim that the elephant went lacking from the camp, assets within the woodland division mentioned the elephant went lacking since November 26 when Ashoka and Drona ran helter-skelter after fireplace crackers were burst all the way through a tiger combing operation at Penjahalli village in HD Kote, at the fringes of Nagarahole Tiger Reserve.

While foresters had claimed that they managed to track the panicked Ashoka at Kothanahalli village close to Taraka Dam and Drona close to Hirehalli A Colony, assets mentioned the foresters could hint most effective Drona, while Ashoka was lacking since that day.

However, foresters have heaved a sigh of aid after tracing the elephant. DB Kuppe RFO Subramanya mentioned Ashoka has been brought to Balle camp. Senior officers will make a decision whether the elephant will probably be used for the tiger combing operation at Penjahalli village or it'll be despatched back to Mathigodu camp.
