Vietnam jails 5 activists over attempted subversion

HANOI: A courtroom in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City has sentenced 5 activists to as much as 15 years in prison after discovering them guilty of working a political group that worked to overthrow the country's Communist one-party rule.


The authentic Vietnam News Agency said group chief Luu Van Vinh was convicted of attempting to overthrow the "people's administration" and sentenced to 15 years in prison in the one-day trial Friday.
