Sun temple row: SC rejects bail plea of journalist

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday rejected the bail plea of Abhijit Iyer-Mitra, who after a up to date chopper journey with baby-kisser Baijayant Panda in Odisha, was once booked for tweeting derogatory feedback concerning the sculptures and statues of the sector well-known Sun Temple in Konark.

After perusing Iyer-Mitra’s tweets and similar subject material, a bench of CJI Ranjan Gogoi and Justices S Ok Kaul and Ok M Joseph mentioned, “How are you entitled to bail? You are inciting religious emotions along with your feedback.”

As the bench seemed to take a prima facie view that there was once nothing mistaken with the fees slapped towards Iyer-Mitra, his counsel mentioned if he was once taken to Odisha to face trial, there would be a risk to his lifestyles.

The bench mentioned, “If your lifestyles is at risk, what higher position than prison? Your lifestyles shall be protected and there will also be no risk to it.” The bench brushed aside the petition saying he was once now not entitled to bail.
