#MeToo movement in India is a wrong practice: BJP MP

NEW DELHI: BJP MP Udit Raj on Tuesday termed the #MeToo motion in India a "wrong practice" and wondered the relevance of constructing sexual harassment allegations against any one after 10 years.

The #MeToo storm has intensified within the country with more girls recounting their reviews of sexual harassment within the entertainment and media business.

"#MeToo motion is important however what's the relevance of constructing sexual harassment allegations against any one ten years later? How will the reality in these allegations be established after goodbye?


"The person on whose the allegations can be levelled, how a lot it will tarnish his symbol is worth giving a concept. A flawed follow is being initiated," he tweeted in Hindi.


The lawmaker from the north-west Delhi constituency stated the #MeToo motion was getting used for blackmailing.


"How is it imaginable that a lady who's in a live-in courting can degree rape allegations against her partner and he is booked and despatched to jail. Such incidents are going down so frequently nowadays. Isn't it getting used for blackmailing?," he stated.


The motion began after actor Tanushree Dutta alleged that Nana Patekar sexually pressured her on the sets of a movie in 2008. Since then, many women have pop out in public to proportion their reviews of harassment.
