India win gold and two silver on Day 2 of Track Asia Cup Cycling

NEW DELHI: India secured a gold and two silver medals on the second day to inch nearer to the championship name at the 5th Track Asia Cup Cycling on Saturday.

India are currently on top with four golds, 5 silvers and a bronze medal within the festival.

Junior cyclist E Chaoba Devi of SAI National Cycling Academy (SAINCA) surprised India's favourite Nayana Rajesh P in girls elite three km person pursuit finals to clinch the gold medal, while Subarna Barma from Bangladesh received the bronze.

"I'm doing training for 7 hours on daily basis and very glad that the hard work paid off. My sole aim to represent and win medals for the country," Chaoba Devi stated.

In males junior three km person pursuit final, Bilal Ahmed secured silver with a timing of 3:28.903s, while Kazakhstan's Danil Pekhotin received his second gold of this match clocking three:28.273s. SAINCA received the bronze within the event.

In the women junior 2 km person pursuit, India's Swasti Singh received the gold medal with a timing of 2:41.123 and a mean velocity of 89.37 km in line with hour.

Danamma Chinchakh from SAINCA secured the silver medal with a mean velocity of 73.9 km in line with hour. Before this match, Danamma had received bronze medal within the Asian championship in Point race event.


In males elite scratch race of 15 kms, Thurakit Boonratanathanakorn and Patompob Phonarjthan from Thailand received gold and silver medals respectively. Ryan James from Netherlands received the bronze.


The males elite 4 km person pursuit final noticed Hong Kong's Siu Woi profitable the gold. While Ryan James of Netherlands grabbed silver, his second medal of the day, Yuttana Mano of Thailand got bronze.


India had received 3 gold medals, 3 silver and a bronze on the opening day.


The match at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium is being organised by means of the Cycling Federation of India and has attracted participation from 12 international locations.
