Workshop for schoolteachers on heritage edu begins

Udhagamandalam: A two-day workshop for schoolteachers on heritage education and communication started in the the city on Friday. The workshop, first of its kind in the Nilgiris, was once performed by the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), Nilgiris bankruptcy.
Over 30 lecturers from 18 colleges, including government colleges, from across the Nilgiris took section in the workshop. Principal director of Heritage Education and Communication Service (INTACH) Purnima Datt performed a session on ways at the first day of the workshop.

The technical session lined cultural heritage, built heritage, subject matter heritage and living heritage. Speaking at the instance, convener of INTACH (Nilgiris bankruptcy) Geetha Srinivasan said, “It is a pathbreaking workshop for lecturers in the Nilgiris. This is to create awareness some of the educating community.”

She said, “To kindle younger minds, heritage clubs shall be evolved in colleges in the Nilgiris. Hence, this workshop for lecturers would assist in the procedure.”

Stating that connecting younger folks to heritage components could be very difficult, Purnima said, “It is the oldsters and lecturers’ accountability to instill no less than a bit little bit of our own heritage.” She said, “We discuss our basic rights but not a lot about our basic duties. Our basic duties come with caring for our identification, our natural heritage and cultural heritage.”

“The purpose is, up to now two centuries, we have been witnessing numerous destruction of our heritage which is tens of millions of years previous,” said Suresh, president, INTACH, Tamil Nadu. He added, “Like nature club, arts club, music club, colleges could have heritage clubs too.”

With a field shuttle to heritage websites in the Nilgiris and interplay periods the workshop will conclude on Saturday.
