Truck laden with 1L eggs hijacked

Tirupur: An unidentified gang hijacked a truck weighted down with more than one lakh eggs after kidnapping its driving force and two load males at knifepoint near Avinashi here a couple of days in the past.
The incident got here to mild on Friday when truck driving force C Ponnusamy, of Perundapalipatti in Namakkal, lodged a grievance with the Avinashi police.

According to police, the incident happened when Ponnusamy, at the side of load males Varadharajan, 26, and Nachimuthu, 38, was transporting one lakh and seven thousand eggs from Namakkal to Kuniyamuthur in Coimbatore on Wednesday.


When they reached Nalligoundanpalayam near Thekkalur on Salem-Kochi National Highway, they stopped the truck on roadside and fell asleep. In the early hours of Thursday, five unidentified folks woke them up, threatened them at knifepoint and kidnapped them in a automotive. The trio had been, on the other hand, let off at Thanneerpandalpalayam near Karuvalur on Mettupalayam road, but not before robbing them of Rs 600 and 3 cell phones, police stated.


As the trio didn’t have cash to board bus, they walked all the approach to Nalligoundanpalayam, where the truck was parked. But the car was found lacking. They did not approach police quickly, as they tried to track the truck themselves.


Based at the grievance, the Avinashi police formed a special staff and found the truck abandoned at Karuppur in Salem. It is not recognized whether the eggs had been stolen or not. tnn
