Rahul meets ‘Kaala’ film director Pa Ranjith

CHENNAI: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday took day off his busy agenda to have a long assembly with Tamil movie director Pa Ranjith, who directed actor Rajinikanth’s remaining two movies “Kabali” and “Kaala.” Both the flicks are in regards to the problems and rights of the oppressed categories and landless masses.
The assembly, which came about at Gandhi’s residence in New Delhi, lasted almost two hours.

Gandhi tweeted using his Twitter deal with @RahulGandhi on Wednesday: “I met movie director P A Ranjith, the person in the back of blockbuster movies like Madras, Kabali and Kaala, and actor Kalaiyarasan in Delhi the day before today. We talked about politics, movies and society. I enjoyed the interaction and sit up for continuing our discussion.”

Ranjith tweeted using his Twitter deal with pa.ranjith‏ @beemji: “IMP.assembly with @RahulGandhi about politics&art. Discussed caste&religious bias threatening the core of our secular constitution. Thanks for having me over sir. Looking forward for our dialogue taking shape. A countrywide chief enticing with people from all ideologies may be very encouraging!”

The Congress president’s assembly with Ranjith, whose penchant to get the dalit voice heard on all fronts and in every opportunity is well known, comes after Gandhi’s assembly with Thol Thirumavalavan, chief of the Davidian party Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, in Delhi a while in the past.

With political events having already set their eyes at the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, such meetings add significance, particularly with the Congress continuing to concentrate on its inclusive growth fashion in politics, within the backdrop of BJP’s perceived divisive politics.
