No discussions on JU vice-chancellor's resignation: Tripathi

KOLKATA: West Bengal Governor Okay. N. Tripathi on Thursday said Jadavpur University Vice-Chancellor Suranjan Das, who has expressed his want to resign, has no longer mentioned the matter with him.

The Governor, also the university's ex-officio chancellor, made it transparent that he would no longer impose anything.

"Let him come and discuss, only after that, I will think about the matter of his resignation," Tripathi informed the media here.

"Nothing will be imposed by me. The decision of students' admission was taken during the Executive Council's meeting," he said.

Under drive from protesting students and revolt by way of a big section of teachers, Jadavpur University government on Tuesday decided to convey again the admission test system for admission to 6 undergraduate classes in the humanities move.

However, Das and Pro Vice-Chancellor Pradip Ghosh put it on report that they weren't in fortify of the solution that was carried by way of the bulk.

"We are not a party to the resolution. We cannot go beyond the lawyers' opinion given in the wake of a letter from the Chancellor. University cannot be run in the given situation. The pro-VC and I, will both seek to be relieved of our responsibilities," Das had said..

Tripathi said nothing has been mentioned about Das' resignation.
