With loan waiver deferred, BSY fails to announce himself

BENGALURU: Having completed his purpose of becoming the manager minister of Karnataka again, B S Yeddyurappa strode into Vidhana Soudhan bang on at 10.30 am on Thursday like a man on a challenge.

Keen on retaining his birthday party’s promise to waive loans as much as Rs 1 lakh of farmers and weavers by means of making an announcement inside hours of his assuming place of job, the BJP leader straightaway chaired a one-member Cabinet assembly with senior officials of the state paperwork. This included the loans which had been taken by means of the farmers and weavers from each nationalised co-operative banks.

However, by means of 11.30 am, a relatively deflated Yeddyurappa entered the conference corridor of the secretariat to announce that the announcement of loan waiver has been “deferred”.

Yeddyurappa used to be best seeking to outdo his predecessor, leader minister Siddaramaiah, who announced the Rs 4,000-crore “Anna Bhagya” scheme providing seven kg free rice to each and every BPL family. According to BJP manifesto, the waiver of farmers’ loans totals a whopping Rs 53,000 crore.

According to informed sources, Yeddyurappa’s wings had been clipped when he first sought for main points at the extent of farm and weaver loans from leader secretary Ratna Prabha and the finance division. With the state paperwork making it transparent that it will require time to collate it, Yeddyurappa’s plans went for a toss.

According to officials, the loan waiver scheme could no longer be mentioned at all bearing in mind that there is no scheme in place for the mentioned goal.

Briefing the media later at the relatively “disappointing” flip of occasions, Yeddyurappa mentioned the loan waiver scheme shall be implemented in a day or two.

“While I had assured the people of this state that the farmers and weavers loans shall be waived on me taking rate, the manager secretary and the paperwork informed me that they're going to require no less than 24 hours to secure the entire information and main points from the banks. The main points shall be secured and I guarantee the people of Karnataka that the loans shall be waived in a day or two,” he mentioned.

Later, at a birthday party match to congratulate the CM, Yeddyurappa himself admitted that his intent of splashing the headlines with the loan waiver scheme came to nought.

“I used to be hoping to announce the loan waiver for the farmers and weavers who had taken loans even from nationalised banks, but it could no longer be accomplished. However, it will be implemented in a while,” he mentioned.
