Vijayendra’s lunch for Kuruba support

MYSURU: BJP chief B Y Vijayendra, who is looking for to make inroads into the Congress bastion of Varuna segment, on Sunday continued his efforts and had lunch at a Kuruba neighborhood circle of relatives at Rayanahundi all through campaigning.

Vijayendra, a Lingayat chief who is retaining roadshows in Mysuru and Nanjangud taluks, targeted his campaigning at Hundis where the Kuruba neighborhood is targeted. After his poll managers chalked out campaigning for the day, they were given an invite from a Kuruba circle of relatives, asking Vijayendra to lunch with them, his aides said.


Vijayendra had lunch at Ramanna’s house at Rayanahundi, BJP Slum Morcha basic secretary Raghu advised TOI. He had invited BJP leaders and Vijayendra accredited it, he claimed. The lunch is aimed toward achieving out to the neighborhood. Kurubas are in sizable numbers in Varuna segment, spread across Mysuru, Nanjangud and T Narsipur taluks, represented through CM Siddaramaiah. The Congress is fielding Yathindra Siddaramaiah, a Kuruba chief.


Vijayendra targeted CM Siddaramaiah, saying he is trying to muzzle the Dalit leadership in the state, and said he has additionally neglected Dalits in the segment. At roadshows, he sought to grasp the CM’s contribution for the welfare of Dalit communities. “Voters will have to perceive his ploy in denying Dalit leadership,” he advised villagers as he crisscrossed the segment, visiting Maranahundi, Koodanahalli, Kochanahalli, Basallihundi, Someshwarapura, Kumbrahalli Math, Ayarahalli, Marigowdanahundi, Devalapura and Chikkagowdanahundi villages.
