Two more notorious cattle thieves in CCB net

MANGALURU: Sleuths of City Crime Branch of Mangaluru City Police on Monday nabbed two more notorious livestock thieves in reference to case of livestock robbery reported in Moodbidri police station limits on the intervening night time of March 13 and 14. Police incidentally had arrested two persons in this case previous and the latest arrests have taken general arrests in this case that came about at Mudu Marnadu to four, deputy commissioner of police (law and order) Hanumanthraya said.

The accused nabbed are Abdul Razak, 28 of Ashraya Colony, Alangar, Moodbidri and Mohammad Arif, 26 of Thodar House, Mijar submit in Mangaluru taluk. Out of those accused, Razak has 9 instances of livestock robbery registered towards him in Kalasa, Baluru, Balehonnuru, Jayapura in Chikkamagaluru district and in Puttur Rural PS in DK district. Mohammad Arif too has 16 instances of livestock robbery registered towards him in Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Kodagu and DK districts.


Police have data of duo being all in favour of instances of livestock robbery and additional investigation is on in this regard, he said. Referring to the above incident during which the duo were arrested, the officer said the accused had stolen two cows tied in a cow shed in a automobile. When the locals gave chase of their vehicles, the accused brandished swords of their ownership and likewise smashed the headlights of those vehicles, besides threatening them. A case was registered in Moodbidri PS.
