Punjab Agricultural University students hold candle march, demand fast-track justice

LUDHIANA: Slogans were raised within the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on Friday night, when about 500 scholars arranged a candle march, in the hunt for justice for the girl who was raped in Jammu & Kashmir.

Students sporting candles and placards — with slogans reminiscent of ‘Rape isn't the sufferer’s fault’, and ‘Stop rape’ — started the vigil from Student Home, crossing MS Randhawa Library, athletics ground, and PAU marketplace, to end back at Student Home.


Meanwhile, scholars saved elevating slogans against the incident and demanded quick justice for the girl. Ph.D scholar Lovejeet Kaur stated: “The rape of an eight-year-old lady is so horrendous. For such a lot of days, the case remained beneath cover. However, now when it has come to gentle, we would like the girl and her family to get justice.”


M.Sc scholar Pushpinder Kaur stated: “Today, PAU scholars have got here out to march with the demand for quick justice. We need the youth of this country to stay elevating their voices against rapes, especially this example, till justice is delivered.”


Another Ph.D scholar, Karanvir Singh, stated: “With this candle march, we demand our courts to deliver quick justice. Students of PAU demand handing over the case to a fast-track court. and ensure harsh punishment to the rapists.”
