Man sets himself on fire in front of police station

TIRUPUR: A 24-year-old guy, who was asked to appear in connection with a home violence criticism, set himself on hearth at Palladam police station on Tuesday.

According to the police, the man has sustained more than 80% burn injuries and his condition is alleged to be vital. He is being treated on the Coimbatore clinical college and sanatorium.


R Ashok Kumar of Chinniyagounden Palayam close to Palladam married Bhuvaneswari two years in the past. Whenever there was difference of opinion between the couple, Ashok Kumar allegedly used to overcome and torture her, consistent with the police. Bhuvaneswari went to her folks’ space and was residing there a few days in the past. But Ashok Kumar went to Bhuvaneswari’s folks’ space recently and picked up a quarrel with her. He additionally beat her up, consistent with the police criticism lodged by Bhuvaneswari on Tuesday. Police called Ashok to appear for inquiry.


Within few hours, Ashok set himself on hearth after dousing with kerosene in entrance of the police station. Police group of workers cast off the fireplace and took him to the Palladam government sanatorium. Later, he was shifted to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. The Palladam police have registered a case and investigations are on.
