Karnataka assembly polls: Congress releases list of 218 candidates, Siddaramaiah to contest from Chamundeshwari

NEW DELHI: Congress on Sunday launched its first listing of 2018 candidates for the impending assembly elections in Karnataka.
As per the listing, leader minister Siddaramaiah might be contesting from the constituency of Chamundeshwari.


The listing also comprises the names of some state ministers as birthday celebration candidates for the polls.

Parameshwara, president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, might be in the fray from the Korategere assembly constituency

Meanwhile, Janata Dal Secular has already introduced candidates for 126 constituencies. The birthday celebration is in alliance with Bahujan Samaj Party for Karnataka polls.

On April 8, the BJP had introduced the first listing of 72 candidates who will contest the top stakes Karnataka assembly polls.


The saffron birthday celebration, which is striving to go back to power in Karnataka after a gap of 5 years, has introduced Yeddyurappa as its leader ministerial candidate, with a target of successful 150 out of 224 assembly seats.


The birthday celebration has fielded Yeddyurappa from the Shikaripura seat.


With polling day inching closer, Karnataka has was a political battleground with both the ruling Congress and the opposition BJP broadly campaigning around the state.


The southern state is going to polls on May 12 to elect its representatives and results might be out on May 15.
