Jet Airways flight hits parked truck at Delhi airport

NEW DELHI: A significant accident was prevented at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport on Sunday night time when the wing of a Jet Airways flight, returning from Dubai, hit a parked catering vehicle while the aircraft was taxiing to a parking bay. No injuries have been reported within the incident then again, officers confirmed.


Sources say the incident happened at round 7.55 pm when a Jet Airways flight 9W-545 carrying 133 passengers on-board arrived on the IGI airport. The aircraft, which needed to be parked at Bay 20R was taxiing to its designated parking bay while a catering vehicle of Taj SATS – an air catering corporate was parked close by on Bay quantity 20.


Sources say the flight’s proper wing hit the parked catering vehicle just as it was about to go to the parking bay, then again no injuries have been reported right through the hit.


Officials say an investigation has been introduced into the incident and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is also prone to probe the incident.


Last year in September, a an identical incident had happened when an Air India aircraft hit a ground cooling unit truck while taxiing in opposition to a parking bay. The flight had 114 passengers on-board, then again no injuries have been reported right through the incident.
