Institute of Chartered Accountants of India wants commerce taught from class VI

AHMEDABAD: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has requested the ministry of human sources development (MHRD) to introduce commerce subjects in class curriculum from class VI.
Speaking at a press conference Mukesh Singh Kushwah, convener, Career Counselling Group, ICAI, said that right through the preliminary college years, scholars are taught science and social science, however there was no commerce base being taught at faculties. Kushwah said they'd written to the MHRD and requested for introducing some basic commerce subjects in class syllabi.

He said that if required the ICAI will lend a hand the MHRD prepare the syllabus. He additional said that in order to popularize commerce schooling among scholars the Career Counselling Group, ICAI (CCSg) is carrying out a Commerce Talent Search Test called ICAI Commerce Wizard-2018.


The registration is open to scholars from class IX to class XII, BCom, BBA, BMS and allied subjects. He additional said that this year the ICAI was targeting for 50,000 scholars to take the take a look at. This was 17,500 remaining year and in 2016 the quantity was 24,500. He said that the Commerce Wizard qualification will lend a hand even class X dropouts to become profitable.


Dhinal Shah, chairman, BOS ICAI said “In 2018, the ICAI has made up our minds to introduce open e-book examination for the general examination for non-compulsory topic. The institute has also made up our minds to be strict with articleship.”


Shah added, “We are going to take measures to make sure that scholars take articleship significantly and get sensible knowledge.”
