GHAZIABAD: More than 200 private buses engaged by colleges to ferry students overlooked an inspection drive carried out by the shipping department on its final day on Sunday.

The department has now determined to habits wonder tests on vehicles engaged by colleges to peer if they are fitted with equipment as indexed in the pointers laid down by the Supreme Court.


On the primary day of the drive on April 8, only 712 of the 1,400-odd buses across Ghaziabad district had turned up. Of them, 125 were found plying without essential safety tools in place. During the second one and final section of the drive on Sunday, some other 308 buses turned up, of which 37 were found without security measures.


“The buses were examined on an 11-point agenda as laid down by the apex court. We have issued notices to the managements of the ones private colleges whose buses were found missing the security features. They have to put in the features and report to the shipping department in seven days,” stated ARTO Biswajeet Singh.


The department had directed the universities that had now not sent their buses for inspection on April 8 to get the vehicles checked in the second one section. Many of the buses were found to lack footrests and have jammed emergency doors. Some of the vehicles didn't have the contact main points of the college printed on them. A total of one,020 private school buses were inspected by the shipping department all through the drive performed on instructions issued from Lucknow.
