Woman SI to pay Rs 50,000 for slapping Tasmac employee

CHENNAI: About 9 years after a woman sub-inspector of police slapped a Tasmac bar salesman, the Tamil Nadu State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) rapped the officer and awarded ?50,000 as compensation to the victim.
SHRC member D Jayachandran, passing orders on a complaint lodged via C Muniasamy, also mentioned the government would possibly get better the volume from R Thilagavathy, sub-inspector of Kadaladi police station in Ramanathapuram.


In his complaint, Muniasamy, a salesperson in a bar attached to a Tasmac outlet in Kamuthi, mentioned that on July 23, 2009, around 9pm, sub-inspector Thilagavathy and two policemen entered the premises and asked for the bar proprietor.


“She questioned why the landlord of the bar had no longer referred to as on her even a month after she had taken fee in the police station. She then dragged me out of the shop and assaulted me. This apart, I was taken to the police station and released handiest after the bar proprietor met the officer,” Muniasamy mentioned.


Denying the allegations, the sub-inspector, in her affidavit to the SHRC, submitted that the averments made in the complaint were not true and that she had visited the bar handiest to inquire about the lawsuits made in opposition to the bar.


Recording the submissions, the fee held that the officer had violated human rights of the complainant and was vulnerable to pay due compensation to him.
