Soldier from Harihar killed in bomb blast during training

Davanagere: An Indian Army soldier from Harihar was once killed in a bomb explosion all the way through training in Pokhran, Rajasthan, on Monday. Abdul Javid, 32, was once the chief for the 14th Madras Engineering Group regiment and deputed in Pokhran for special training, said his circle of relatives assets.

His body is most probably to reach Harihar on Wednesday evening. The final rites will likely be performed on Thursday.


Javid’s wife Sathraz Banu and his two daughters are staying with his oldsters Abdul Khadar, a scrap service provider, and Fathima, a homemaker. Javid was once their second son. He completed PU in commerce from SJVP College in Harihar before joining the Army 14 years ago.


KRV members paid tributes to the departed soldier through maintaining his portrait at Gandhi Circle in Harihar on Tuesday. MP G M Siddeshwar, MLA H S Shivashankar and taluk officials visited Javid’s space and consoled his members of the family.
