Not planning to acquire farmland permanently: MLIRC

Belagavi: The Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC) has clarified that it has no purpose of permanently acquiring 7,469 acres of land adjacent 9 villages, together with Nanawadi and Mandolli, to hold out firing training actions.

“The media is providing false data on the everlasting land acquirement. A misinformation may be being spread that there's danger of damage to existence and belongings because of firing actions. The Army has strict protection regulations whilst accomplishing firing practices. Till date, no longer a single adversarial incident or lack of existence or injury has took place because of firing actions,” read an MLIRC unlock.

Of the 7,469 acres of land, 609 acres in Bagdad Asmara Field Firing Range is A1 defence land, which is exclusively used for sporting out training by means of the army. This land has been in use as training space even prior to Independence. No agriculture actions are performed within the 609 acres of land, the MLIRC added.

The state govt de-notified a space of seven,469.11 acres adjacent the town in 2013. This land used to be notified in 1970 for the firing range of defence department. However, the Army has put a suggestion once more to the income department to increase the previous notification orders.

Media studies claimed that the Army is proposing everlasting acquisition of land, creating panic a few of the farmers.
