JNU students to form human chain against 'sadist VC'

NEW DELHI: Going ahead with its agitation towards necessary attendance, the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU) has given a choice for a human chain protest on the campus to denounce the "VC's sadist authoritarianism".
Teachers of the university have additionally consented to sign up for the union's motion, which the latter has referred to as towards a number of problems, including "seat-cut, decimation of deprivation points and reservation", and delinking of M.Phil and Ph.D, and different such orders imposed by the administration within the closing 365 days.


The scholars have been challenging withdrawal of attendance circular issued by the university, beneath which it mandated 75 consistent with cent attendance for the scholars to be eligible for promotion to next semester.


This order, consistent with the JNU administration, is in power since January 2018.


Students reignited their protest on Thursday once they came to know of some other circular from the government, during which the latter ordered withdrawal of fellowship/ scholarship and hostel facility to those who fail to reach the mandatory attendance mark.


In protest towards the order, the scholars' union enforced a "lock-down", owing to which no categories could be carried out on Friday.
