Ex-president of Palangarai panchayat yet to be probed

Tirupur: A day after allegation of swindling of Rs 2.03 crore was made in opposition to the former president of Palangarai panchayat, officers in the district management are but to look into the petition submitted by way of CPM cadres in this regard.
Sources, including the next income professional, admitted that the petition submitted on Monday has been forwarded to the assistant director of panchayats (Tirupur). But when TOI contacted AD of panchayats, he stated, “I did not obtain the petition, up to now.”

Block development officer (BDO) of Avinashi G Prabhakaran stated, “Since the amount discussed in the allegation was higher, the petition will have to be with the higher authority. We, up to now, did not listen the rest about it.”

TOI tried to track the petition but all of the officers including audit division officers responded that they had been but to listen to about it.

However, a senior professional associated with the directorate of rural development company stated, “Generally, one cannot come to a conclusion that there was corruption in keeping with the remarks made in the annual audit reviews. When the remarks are made, if the civic body authorities had been in a position to provide right reason why and adequate documents including bill receipts instantly or later, the remarks will likely be ratified. Otherwise, the auditor- deputy BDO (audit) - may just issue a charge memo in opposition to the civic body.”

“With that charge memo, the federal government will get better the loss from the civic body authorities below the Revenue Recovery Act,” he stated.

“But up to now, we did not issue one of these charge memos in opposition to former Palangarai panchayat president M Senthil Kumar, who was in the place of work between 2006 and 2016 when Rs 2.02 crore was allegedly swindled from the panchayat,” stated the senior professional.

M Palanisamy of CPM got the information about annual audit reviews for 2006-16 below the RTI act.
