Belagavi city police order petrol bunks to install CCTVs

Belagavi: After launching the “No Helmet, No Petrol” rule, Belagavi city police have asked petrol bunk house owners to compulsorily set up CCTVs. Apart from making sure that bikers wear helmet, the CCTVs will help police observe felony activities.
“We have suggested all of the petrol bunk house owners to put in CCTV which won't best help to observe and crack felony activities, but additionally to make sure that bikers are dressed in helmets. Senior police officers will stay visiting every petrol bunks to ensure refueling is obtainable best to those bikers who are dressed in helmets,” stated Mahaling Nandgavi, DCP (legislation and order).

Police launched the “No Helmet, No Petrol” rule on February 21 a day after keeping assembly with petrol bunk house owners. There was once confusion to begin with, but after police officers started surprise visits to petrol filling stations, the house owners had no choice but to put the “No Helmet, No Petrol” forums and return bikers without the protection headgear.

After this rule was once implemented, the general public started questioning why police are not eager about imposing the obligatory autorickshaw meter rule. They took to the police department’s Facebook page, not easy motion towards violators.

Following the outburst, police have made up our minds to launch a force in this regard on March 1. The first stage of the challenge will see police check the documents and allows of autorickshaw meters.

There are about 7,500 autorickshaws working within the city. But over 50% of them are running without allows. Many autorickshaws have meters, but do not rate fare as in keeping with the instrument.
