Belagavi: Under the Smart City challenge, the Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) is planning to build 3 mouldable underfill-based commercial centres at a complete estimated cost of Rs 234.8 crore. The 3 projects at Dharmanath Bhavan Circle, Mahantesh Nagar and close to the first Railway Gate will likely be taken up underneath public-private partnership style.
The largest of the projects is at Dharmanath Bhavan. It will likely be commercial centre and new town centre constructed across a three.15-acre house at an estimated cost of Rs 130.three crore. The commercial centre at Mahantesh Nagar will come up on about 2 acres at a cost of Rs 84.7 crore. The one close to the first Railway Gate is being deliberate on a nil.66-acre house at an estimated cost of Rs 19.7 crore.

The centres may have shopping department shops, multiplexes, meals courts, restaurants, dinner party halls, convenient shopping, ATMs, commercial and place of job complexes. There will likely be skill building and incubation centre, and conference centre adjacent to Dharmanath Bhavan.


There will likely be multi-utility facility centres like BelagaviOne, Citizen Service Centre in conjunction with bus terminals, parking facility, auto and taxi stand, cycle stations and hawkers' house. However, there will likely be no liquor retail outlets at these centres which will grow to be an enduring source of source of revenue for the Belagavi City Corporation as house will likely be allocated on per 30 days condo bases. Initially, the rate will likely be fixed at Rs 50 per sqft. According to Shashidhar Kurer, commissioner, BCC, and managing director of Belagavi Smart City Ltd, decentralizing of town core area through creating new town centres and improvement of mobility has been given top priority.
