2,400 cases submitted at Lok Adalat, 407 settled

Dharwad: Of the whole 2,400 cases admitted, 407 were settled at the National Lok Adalat held at the district court docket right here. While 332 cases were settled via arbitration, 75 were performed so at the pre-litigation level, said major district and periods judge Ramachandra Huddar, under whose chairmanship the Lok Adalat used to be held. He mentioned that 19 petitioners in 14 cases were given a repayment of Rs 28.69 lakh following decree at the Lok Adalat.

Huddar said that the Lok Adalat is to hand in settling long-drawn disputes via mediation, ensuring that the aggrieved party is given repayment the similar day. As road injuries are on the rise, cases under the Motor Vehicles Act too are expanding. The Lok Adalat is the most efficient platform to settle such disputes and reduce pendency at decrease courts, he said.

The Legal Services Authority has taken up this new measure of conserving regular Lok Adalats so that the petitioner need not look forward to years to get justice. The petitioner and the opposite events will have to be enlightened on the scope for Lok Adalat, said the judge. Lower court docket judges, representatives of insurance coverage companies, panel advocates, NWKRTC officials and petitioners took part in the Lok Adalat.
