Major tourist spots to get dynamic lighting in Varanasi by June

NEW DELHI: By next July, a dozen of locations in Varanasi including the well-known Dashaswamedh Ghat, Old Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Manikarnika Gate, Sarnath museum and Cantonment railway station will get complex dynamic and static lighting fixtures system as part of the beautification drive.

Urban affairs, tourism and railways ministries and the Varanasi Development Authority has approved the budget for this LED lighting fixtures works across the city's important tourist locations. Central Public Works Department (CPWD) has called tenders for 3 websites and bids for 3 others shall be called soon.


Recently, CPWD had successfully accomplished the dynamic facade lighting fixtures of the well-known Central Vista in Delhi, which has the long-lasting North and South Block buildings on either side of Rajpath.


"The locations in Varanasi have been selected keeping in mind the huge footfall. While works to improve the sanitation, roads and other infrastructure are underway, LED lighting is being taken up to make the tourist places more attractive during night. We will complete the projects in the next six months. All agencies have come together to improve the condition of this holy city," mentioned an official aware of the LED lighting fixtures tasks.


Varanasi is likely one of the towns from Uttar Pradesh that has got the sensible city tag and Centre has put its best priority to make stronger town, which elected Narendra Modi to turn into the Prime Minister in 2014.
